Love my new blackstone griddle. Used already a dozen times in just a few weeks and its working great!!
This is an incredible deck cooking machine. When my old grill was on its last legs, I had to decide whether to rebuild the burners or buy a new one. I realized my cooking style had evolved; now, I prefer vegetables and fish over steaks, burgers, and hot dogs. I thought I might have to build something myself but decided to check online first. I found this griddle on Amazon for $269, including shipping.
Assembly took about an hour, including finding batteries. My whole family loves it. We've cooked Japanese steakhouse-style meals, turkey burgers, tuna steaks, and salmon. It's great for finely chopped veggies and making fried rice with steamed brown rice. No one around here had seen or heard of these griddles, so it's pretty novel. Thanks to my wife, photos of the griddle with multiple items cooking are all over Facebook.
The steel top is heavier than any grill I've owned—it's truly a heavy-duty machine. If you keep it outside, you'll need to buy a cover to prevent rust. I'm so impressed that I'm fixing up my deck for entertaining. I'm getting an indoor/outdoor carpet to cover the old pressure-treated planks and a 6-person table and chairs from Lowes.
This griddle makes the best burgers and turkey burgers I've ever cooked. They come out with a nice brown crust and stay moist, with no more flare-ups, char, or dried-out burgers. My favorite is mixed veggie stir-fry. We cook huge amounts of turkey burgers, veggies, and fried rice, so we have leftovers all week without heating up the house. And for fish, it’s perfect because there's no lingering smell inside.
I was thinking about getting a small grill for the deck, but the more I use the griddle, the less attractive that idea seems. I've heard the best steaks are cooked in a super-hot skillet, but I haven't tried steaks or hot dogs yet. If the picture comes through, you'll see 2 lbs of turkey burgers and 1 lb of ground turkey mixed with veggies. Once it cools down a bit, I'll add 10 whipped eggs, spread it out, and top it with shredded cheese until it melts.
Wow, wow, wow. I absolutely ADORE this griddle! My husband and I have both wanted a good indoor griddle, and this is the next best thing. It's seriously huge! I initially got it for our family reunion, but my husband took it on a scouting trip and managed to cook all the food in a fraction of the time those smaller camp stoves take. We're also planning to cook a massive amount of pancakes on it for our 4th of July breakfast in a couple of weeks.
Seasoning the surface is simple, with clear instructions provided in the manual. This griddle gets very hot, very fast. I love the four heating elements that cover the depth of the cooking surface, allowing us to create different temperature zones and keep some food warm while cooking the rest. There are no noticeable hot spots, which has always frustrated me with other griddles that sit on top of burners.
Cleanup is a breeze. I use a squeeze bottle with plain water to loosen up any stuck-on particles, scrape off what's needed, then rub a bit of oil to protect the seasoning before letting it cool. The men at Scout camp had serious griddle envy.
The only issue we've had is with the included regulator, which is a bit of a junk. It worked several times before we ran into a problem, but the company promptly sent us a replacement. However, I’m considering ordering a different one just in case. The removable shelves are lightweight but functional. If you have anything heavy to set down, a sturdy table is recommended. My husband also made a windbreak using thin sheets of metal to improve the griddle's efficiency in high winds.
We’re also planning to make a carry bag for it, as there's one available for the griddle but not for the base. Overall, we are both very pleased with it, especially for the price. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it when you're far from the comforts of home.
I was really impressed with the shipping. I ordered the grill on Saturday, April 8th, and it arrived by Thursday, April 13th. Considering the size and weight, that was unexpectedly quick. It was well-packaged and a breeze to assemble.
We got this grill mainly for our monthly church fundraiser breakfasts to cook bacon, sausage, and ham. We seasoned it as per the instructions and used it for the first time to cook 44 pounds of bacon, two boxes of sausage, and two large sliced breakfast hams. It was a massive time saver. One person could tend the meat while the other loaded the grill. It cooked everything evenly on low to medium heat, giving us nice long strips of bacon instead of the usual scrunched-up slices from electric griddles. Even with all that bacon grease, the front grease channel directed it efficiently to the collection container on the right. We had to empty it often, but it should be more than enough for less greasy foods.
The shelves are super convenient and really improve efficiency. The propane tank rack is sturdy and well-designed. Despite its size, the grill is easy to move around and clean. I can't imagine being without this grill now. It has saved us so much time!
